Battlestar panel at the United Nations

This week the U.N. hosted a discussion panel called "Battlestar Galactica: A Retrospective" to talk about how the show deals with serious issues that are very real in today's world -- human rights, terrorism, crimes against children, cultural divide, etc.

You can watch the entire two-hour video by clicking here - it's the archived video for March 17th (or I believe this link works too).

I just finished watching the panel and it's pretty interesting. A lot of great and thoughtful things are said. There are a few awkward moments (especially toward the beginning - I don't think Whoopi was the best choice for moderator) and EJO spazzes out a couple times (ya gotta love how passionate he gets - who else can start yelling "so say we all" in the U.N. and receive applause?). But it's worth checking out. There's some good, intelligent conversation. And it's cool that BSG's achieved a level of recognition where events like this can even take place. ... Ah luv mah show... *sniffle*

Needless to say, I will NOT be working tomorrow night. I will be taking a Couchpotatostar Vacationica.

I will take the time to watch the final episode of BSG and see how lost I am. I, like many I know, stopped watching BSG after the first season. The first season was killer. The beginning of the second season was ... eh. I think they lost a lot of viewers around that time. Somewhere between then and now, the show got really good again and I kept seeing different sites that wouldn't stop talking about it. I don't have time to make up multiple seasons before the Finale but I will pay my respects and watch the final episode. Maybe it will do what most sci-fi shows can't and have a good final episode.

I haven't missed an episode of Star Wars yet, and I'm not about to start now. Thank the force for DVRs.

Wha... ?? That boggles my mind, sir.. I think season 1 is the weakest of the series by far. Season 2 is when I really truly fell in love with the show... But I guess to each their own.

Personally I would recommend you don't watch the finale until you're caught up.. I think you'll be very confused as to what's going on. SOOO much stuff has happened over the course of even just season 4 alone.. I just can't imagine it making any sense to ya. It would be like someone trying to jump onboard "Lost" right now - They'd have no idea what's going on! Heh

I'm not sure about stats around the US. I only know from my little band of local Sci-fi dorks and it's roughly the same story. One season then kapoot.

I might see if I can acquire the rest of the BS series to get caught up.

Funny you mentioned Lost. I had the horrible experience of watching last seasons Finale of Lost after only watching the first season. It was actually very funny saying "WTF" every 5 minutes in the show. LOL. Won't touch Lost again.

I watch star wars, smallville, and am playing catchup on Sarah Connor Chronicles. Other shows here and there but nothing on a constant basis.

I'm torn on what season I like the most of BSG. Season 1 was pretty darn good though, I think Season 2 kept up the energy but fell just a little short. Season 3 was straight doo-doo to me, they were all over the place and it was like for every one good episode there were 2 or 3 bad ones. Season 4 has definitely lived up to the original two seasons, there were a few moments where I felt like they took the story a little off the paper...but they always manage to rope it back together somehow.

It says a lot though when a show can get a special panel at the U.N.

And I'd definitely recommend watching what you've missed before moving to the finale, there's a lot of things that have happened that will just confuse you if you don't know about them.
