WATCHMEN non-spoilery review

Quick background on me and Watchmen: I just read the graphic novel for the first time a few months ago, after the first movie trailer came out. I liked the book, didn't love it. The ending was my favorite part - it was very unexpected and Twilight Zoney.

So what did I think of the movie? I thought it was balls-to-the-wall awesome. Zack Snyder knocked it outta the park. I thought every actor was perfect. Every scene looked great. I was completely impressed by everything except the ending. Let me clarify -- I didn't hate the movie's ending. I just really wish they'd gone with the original "thing" that happens in the book - it feels like such a missed opportunity. With today's CGI, that would've been SUCH a cool thing to bring to life. But whatever, I thought the ending was good enough. It didn't take away from my over all enjoyment, and that's what matters.

A lot of people will have a hard time with Watchmen. I think most casual moviegoers will be expecting an action flick, and it's not at all -- it's more of a murder-mystery character drama. And it deals with a lot of complex, dark stuff. (By the way, parents, PLEASE leave the kiddies at home. Watchmen takes full advantage of its R rating.)

Bottom line: I loved the movie. I think it's going to shock a lot of people whose only real experience with "superheroes for adults" was The Dark Knight.

I liked it too...I think that I actually like the movie ending a little better than the novel, I like how it tied back to the heroes...

Rorshach and Nite Owl II were great in it...can't wait to see the director's cut and get a few more scenes...

Haven't seen it yet, have plans to see it tomorrow night. I too read the novels when I first saw the trailer. I'm kinda disappointed by what you have stated of the ending, but can't point fingers till I've seen it for myself. I'll let ya know how it goes :)

I loved it.
I am still kinda torn as to wish ending I like more, but I am leaning toward the comic version.

I went with two buds that have not read the comics, one loved it, the other hated it. I explained the ending the way it was in the comic to both of them, and they both stated they would have rather have seen that.
I was very disappointed by the audience at the theatre I was at. Was almost a sold out house, but by the end of the movie, half the audience had left the show.
Every time the story started to drag, a few people would walk out. We lost a whole ton of people during the scene in Archie too.
O wells. Their loss.

I loved it as well. And I think that the film improved on the ending of the book. It made a lot more sense. I can't wait to see the extended cut on Blu-Ray.

I really wanted the end to stay the same, but overall it was still good.

I thought most of the casting was really good, especially Rorschach and the Comedian.

I had a nagging feeling throughout the movie that the they chose the wrong girl for the (younger) Silk Spectre; all the other character choices were perfect tho
