Totally Rad Opening Segment

Awhile back, I drew some cartoons for the guys at the Totally Rad Show. They've been using 'em on their site in the comics section. Anyway, at the beginning of their latest episode they do a mock "Mad Men" intro, and use my drawings in it. Thought that was kinda cool. :)

ALSO... Battlestar goodness:
About 17 or 18 minutes into the show, they have a special segment where they got to visit the Propworx BSG auction warehouse and look at a bunch of the auction items. It's pretty awesome. Check it out. Here's the link to the episode, or you can grab it on iTunes.

Fett art on eBay, BSG and Farscape prints

The original Boba Fett drawing for my "Quantum of Sarlacc" cover is now on eBay. Starting at only 99 cents, 5 day auction -- please go bid and make this sweet puppy YOURS. Here's the link.

I'm also selling this --

Racetrack from Battlestar Galactica -- in big 11"x17" glory. It's not often I sell original art at this size, so BSG fans, go place a bid. Starts at 99 cents, 5 day auction, don't miss out. Here's the link.

And last but not least, I just got in two new prints -- BSG: Racetrack and Farscape (featuring the lovely Chiana and Zhaan, and seen on last year's "Wrath of Con" sci fi convention program cover).

Both prints are on high-quality glossy cardstock, full vibrant color, size: 8.5"x11". They're $10 each and I ask that U.S. residents add $5 to their order for shipping, and international buyers add $10 for shipping. If you're interested, send payment to grantgoboom@gmail.com via Paypal, and I can get them shipped out asap. If you have any questions, give me a shout.

Thanks, everyone!

I'm still a bit behind on emails, and I'm still catching up on commissions (aarggh..)... Busy times. Thank you all for being patient and awesome.

BSG: Racetrack

Been a long time since I drew some Battlestar fan art for myself... I've been working on this over the past couple weeks, in whatever short bursts of free time I can find. Anyway, here it is: my tribute to one of the most underrated and awesome Galactica Girls -- Lt. Margaret 'Racetrack' Edmondson, Raptor pilot extraordinaire!

I made a wallpaper version, too, if anyone's interested.

(I hope she survives the final episodes.)

An Important and Hopeful Moment

. . . On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics.

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

. . . We remain the most prosperous, powerful nation on Earth. Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions -- that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America.

. . . Our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus -- and nonbelievers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.

To the Muslim world, we seek a new way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect. To those leaders around the globe who seek to sow conflict, or blame their society's ills on the West: Know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy. To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history; but that we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist.

. . . So let us mark this day with remembrance, of who we are and how far we have traveled. In the year of America's birth, in the coldest of months, a small band of patriots huddled by dying campfires on the shores of an icy river. The capital was abandoned. The enemy was advancing. The snow was stained with blood. At a moment when the outcome of our revolution was most in doubt, the father of our nation ordered these words be read to the people:

"Let it be told to the future world ... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive... that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet it."

- President Obama, January 20, 2009

Report from the nerd cave

I'm behind on emails, folks.. Don't think I'm ignoring you if I haven't responded to something. Just really busy is all. Knee-deep in Clone Wars.

A lot of people have been asking about the new sketchbooks. The first wave will be going out shortly, probably in the next couple days.. on schedule.

Star Wars cards: If anyone's interested in snagging one of my Galaxy return cards, shoot me an email at grantgoboom@gmail.com and I'll give you the scoop. (For those that don't know what return cards are: Each artist gets a few cards to keep and sell on their own, and these are called "return cards"... They generally go for a few hundred dollars, so please only inquire if you're able to spend the bucks.)

Thanks!

Galaxy Sketches - Batch 4

Artists were asked to do a small number of special sketch cards that'll go into packs sold at Target stores, and they're supposed to have a red color theme. So here's mine.. I did 25 total Target ones. The only one not pictured below is a close-up of Darth Nihilus' mask.

One fandom to rule them all...

As most of you know, I LOVES me some Lord of the Rings. There's a fan film being made called The Hunt For Gollum (thehuntforgollum.com). It's a new story inspired by the books, taking place before Fellowship, starring familiar characters and staying very much in sync with the Peter Jackson movies. It'll be 30 minutes long and available to watch for free online sometime in the coming months.

Seeing things like this, where fans really go above and beyond to show their love in such a creative way, I get some serious warm fuzzies. I have no clue how good the film's gonna turn out, but based on the trailers, I'm pretty impressed so far. Kudos to them. I can't wait to see it. :)

Two variant trailers over here and here.

They've also got a blog going, so check that out too:

My latest Clone Wars comic is online

Due to holiday schedules and people being out of the office, etc., the new comic has been posted on the regular StarWars.com site as a preview. You can still read all the pages - It just means it won't be added to the official reader until early next week. So here's the link -- Go check it out! It serves as a direct lead-in to tonight's new episode, "Dooku Captured!"

Galaxy Sketches - Batch 1

Here are some of my sketch cards for Star Wars Galaxy: Series 4. The really fun thing about this set is that we're allowed to draw pretty much any SW characters, from any era, etc. I don't have a ton of Expanded Universe knowledge, but I'll definitely be throwing in a few well-knowns from various comic series, books, and games.

This is a 4-parter (ie. 4 cards that fit together to make one image -- collectors seem to enjoy hunting 'em down) based on the Clone Wars episode "Cloak of Darkness," where Luminara and Ahsoka battle Asajj:

Super-cartoony 4-parter with characters from the Force Unleashed:

Check it out - the debut of my fancy pants '09 signature... ooOOOoohh... The toony Force Unleashed 4-parter is actually the very first thing I drew in '09.

I'll post more scans soon. This weekend's gonna be a SW Galaxy sketch card marathon. Deadline's in a few days. O.O
