Super Real Graphic Novel

My pal (and 'Wolves of Odin' publisher) Jason Martin has a graphic novel coming out in July that collects his entire "Super Real" series, including a pin-up I did for one of the issues, other guest artists, special issues, etc. It's in this month's Diamond Previews catalog -- You can read all the details and order info right over here. It's a really fun comic, and Jason's art is rockin'. Go to your comic shop and pre-order this bad boy! :)

MN MicroCon 2009

Another MicroCon in the can. It was a fun show, as always - and more packed than usual. Had a pretty good crowd almost the whole day. :)

Artist Jessica Hickman became an Honorary Member of the 501st (courtesy of 501st member Brad Kramer):

Of course, the obligatory superhero costume group shot pic:

And here are a few sketches I scanned in before the show --

Big thanks to everyone that came out to MicroCon! And thank you for not giving me swine flu.

Next convention stop for me is the massively HUUUUGE San Diego Comic-Con in July. Kinda strange to go from the smallest show of the year to the biggest. :) But, yeah, lookin' forward to that. Obviously I'll be posting much more regarding SDCC in the months to come.

I'm gonna be packing and moving over the next few weeks, so it may be a little quiet here on my site. But don't worry - once I'm settled into my new place, I'm sure it won't take me long to get back into the art groove. And hopefully I'll have a few new projects to announce soon too. Aah'll be bock.

Slay-a-thon

The lovely folks over at Slayathon.org (a Buffy-themed Make-A-Wish Foundation Benefit) had me do a revamp of their logo.

You can see the old one over here.

Minnesota MicroCon - this sunday!

MicroCon is this sunday, April 26th, from 10am to 4pm in the Progress Center at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds (for more info, visit mncba.com). MicroCon's always a cool little one-day show. Lots of great artists and fun stuff to buy.

I'll have a table there and will be selling copies of Wolves of Odin, my '09 sketchbook, AND - for you Clone Wars lovers - prints of Rex and Ahsoka.

I will be doing sketches - black & white character headshots only. Since MicroCon's such a short event, I can only squeeze in a few requests (I'm guessing I'll only be able to finish about 5-10 sketches). So if you want one, try to get to my table right when the show opens and I'll get you on the list.

Thanks, everyone!

Rambly Update

This week is all about trying to get organized. I need to make lists. Need to figure out when I can finally finish people's commissions. Need to start packing and cleaning and getting ready to move (I'm staying in Minnesota - just moving to another city). Need to answer emails. Lots to do.

And MicroCon is coming up soon, so I'll be back with more info on that. Time is flyin'!

It's like my baby's been kidnapped and sold to pirates...

When an army of Vikings clashes with a pack of werewolves, a young warrior becomes a legendary hero.

Wow. What an original idea. :P

I wonder how many other "vikings vs. werewolves" projects are out there in development right now that I have no idea about... Dirty rotten idea-swipin' no-good *grumble*grumble*

Let's talk some Star Wars

Here it is -- the kids' activity book that I've been working on -- Draw Star Wars: The Clone Wars! It's written by the editors of Klutz and Lucasfilm's Bonnie Burton, and is a 94-page "learn how to draw Clone Wars characters" guide for ages 4-8. I really like how they've designed it. It's set up with in-book sheets where kids can trace over images, learn how to construct the basic shapes that form each character, etc. And I gotta say, it's been a pretty unique experience for me. Instead of drawing really detailed images, I've had to kind of step in the other direction and draw stuff that's simple for little kids to re-create and understand. It's very weird to get messages from editors that say, "You need to redraw this image - you made it look too good." Hah :) But I'm excited for it to come out. I think it'll be a lot of fun, especially for the younger crowd. And it's a thrill to be working on a project with Bonnie.

According to the Amazon link, the release date is September 1st, so I'll post more about it later and keep you all informed.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I am now a confirmed guest for Star Wars Fan Days III in Texas -- I believe the days are October 24th and 25th. So I'm really looking forward to that. Click here to check out their website. They'll be adding more guests over the next few months, so keep it bookmarked.

Fare thee well, Knight of Galadoorn

If anyone missed my little April Fools site redesign, here's a screencap of the whole thing.

I, for one, will miss the fansite. There is a severe shortage of Willow lovin' on the internet. :P
