Up(date)

I'm finally done moving! whoo :) I'm gonna take a couple days to relax and settle in, and then I'll get back into work mode. Thanks again to everyone who's been patient with commissions, emails, etc.

I also have to mention that I saw the movie Up and it's amazing. I didn't really go into it with huge expectations, but, man, it really is a near-perfect movie. I highly recommend everyone go see it. You'll laugh, you'll cry. The critics are absolutely right about this one.

I'll be back soon with ART!

Dead @ 17: Ultimate Edition

Josh Howard's DEAD @17: ULTIMATE EDITION is now in stores! 408 pages, 25 bucks. Has a pin-up by some idiot named Grant. You'd best run - not walk - to your local comic shop and buy this sweet tasty baby so that it can grace your bookshelf.

You can see sneak peeks of the book (and just a lot of awesome art in general) over at Josh's official website: JoshHoward.net.

Terminator Salvation

I thought it was a great movie. I didn't loooove it the way I loved Star Trek, but I definitely enjoyed it. When the credits rolled, I left the theater with a sense of fanboy satisfaction. I wanted some gritty "future war" robot fightin', and that's exactly what I got. (I liked the surprise toward the end, too. Very cool.)

For me, Christian Bale was probably the weakest link in the movie. I'm not a Bale hater by any means - I just thought he made a bland John Connor. I think I would've preferred they'd kept Nick Stahl, T3's John Connor. But on the flip side of all that, I liked the secondary characters a lot. Sam Worthington brought a ton of charisma, and I was pretty impressed by young Kyle Reese (who, strangely enough, is the same actor who plays Chekov in Trek).

So, yeah, I liked it. Lookin' forward to T5. Hopefully they give Bryce Dallas Howard more to do next time. I love her.

The White Album

The White Album: Images Inspired by the Songs of The Beatles is a hardcover art book that will be debuting at San Diego Comic-Con this summer -- the idea being that all contributing artists will be at the show, so collectors can go around and have everyone autograph their copy. I drew four pieces of art for it. It was a fun opportunity to branch out and be a little more "artsy" than I usually am. I'm very honored to be part of it.

Go check out the teaser website: TheWhiteAlbum.net

More details to come!

Yes, I am alive.

Hey, folks -- I know I'm behind on a lot of emails right now. I'm in the middle of moving and cleaning out my old place, and I just haven't had much time online. Bear with me, I'll get back to you as soon as I can. This month's just a tiny bit chaotic. :)

Thanks!

Jack Burton

From Big Trouble In Little China. Drawn for no reason other than (a) he's awesome, and (b) I needed a break from work and packing.

May is moving by way too quickly.

Star Trek

I just got home from seeing the movie. Loved it. Every minute of it. It perfectly pulls off the awkward task of rebooting the franchise without discrediting all of the stories that have come before. But most importantly, it's FUN.

The entire cast is amazing. Loved the visuals. Loved the story. I have no complaints. I suppose if I had to really dig hard for something to complain about, I'd say Nero isn't the most interesting villain in the world. He was a little bit blah. But honestly, I don't care. It's a fantastic movie. I hope it makes a hundred trillion bajillion dollars, and I can't wait for the next one. :)

Van Zan

Quick sketchy sloppy drawing of Van Zan -- from the awesome (and severely underrated) Reign of Fire.

Say what you will about Matthew McConaughey... He'll always be the American Dragon Hunter to me.

'The Hunt For Gollum' is online!

I had nothing to do with this fan film -- I just want to help pimp it because I'm a Lord of the Rings geek. :) I just finished watching it, and I gotta say, it's pretty impressive. Obviously it's not at the top-notch massive-budget-quality that the LOTR movies are, but for what it is, I give these guys HUGE kudos. And I really like the guy playing Aragorn, too. There is butt-kickin' a'plenty.

The movie's free to watch - runs a little over a half hour. Here's the link: thehuntforgollum.com

Wolverine Card Collab

Rittenhouse Archives has a Wolverine card set coming out and my buddy Mark McHaley thought it'd be fun to collaborate with several artists -- they sketch a card in pencil and he goes over it with his magically delicious paints. So here's the one I did for him. My pencils on the left, the final card on the right.

I'm not officially on the artist roster, so this is literally the only card in the whole set with my art on it. Have fun trackin' it down, collectors. :P

I really love Mark's work.. (Some of you might remember we did a 'Wolves of Odin' piece last year, too.) Hopefully *fingers crossed* there will be more Gould/McHaley team-ups in the future.
