Summer Surprise Sale!

For a limited time, I'm offering a nifty package of art goodies. During my move I unearthed a few things, including some old sketchbooks, some old comics, and random sketches and drawings too numerous to scan in and try to sell on eBay. So I'm trying something a little different. I'm offering up an awesome package deal -- You send me $25 via Paypal* (send to grantgoboom@gmail.com - if you're outside the U.S., please add an extra $5 to cover extra shipping costs) and here's what you get:

1) One of my Star Wars Galaxy 4 base cards, signed by me.

2) A signed copy of my 2002 self-published comic "Wraith." It's pretty terrible and silly, but it's a fun little flashback to the kind of stuff I was doing before I went all professional. :P

3) A signed copy of my 2008 "Wolves of Odin" San Diego Comic-Con preview book. It has an exclusive cover, the first 11 pages of the actual comic, an intro to the characters, and a sketch section.

4) A signed double-sided "Clone Wars" print -- Rex on one side, Ahsoka on the other.

5) My new promo card, featuring the girl on my new convention banner.

6) A signed, random 8.5"x11" original drawing. This is where the "surprise" comes in. It could be a pencil sketch, it could be an inked drawing. I'm gonna reach into my pile of art and grab something. If you want to make a note on your order, listing a few things you're into (such as Star Wars or Battlestar or whatever else), feel free. I'll try my best to make ya happy. But for the most part, it's a luck of the draw. It's a way for me to get rid of some of the pictures I've saved over the years and send 'em off to loving homes.

*Additional Option - '07 Sketchbook
I also found a small stack of 2007 sketchbooks: Chicks Dig Dungeon Masters. If you'd like a copy, add an extra $5 to your order, and I'll be sure to sign it as well.

Thanks, everyone!

Coloring Line Art in Photoshop

I occasionally get emails from people asking if I'll write a tutorial on how I digitally color stuff, and I'd love to, but I just don't have the time. Plus I use pretty ancient methods. I still color with a mouse, and no one should be encouraging and teaching that sort of archaic behavior. :) I tried to make the switch to a Wacom tablet a couple times, but could never really get into the groove. I do want to try a Cintiq someday. I think that'll work much better - maybe a more natural transition. Unfortunately the hefty price tag has kept me from getting one. Anyway, we shall see. For now, the mouse method works. It's slow, but it's what I'm used to.

A brief appearance at CONvergence

CONvergence is a sci-fi/fantasy convention held in Minnesota - from what I hear, it gets bigger and better every year - I honestly have no idea what to expect. Anyway, they've added an Artists' Alley for the first time this year and invited me to be there for a 3-hour block of time (I have no idea why they're doing it in 3-hour blocks). So I'll be there on Friday, July 3rd from 3pm to 6pm, located on the 2nd floor of the South Tower. You can find more directions and info over at their official site: convergence-con.org

I have a new banner!

San Diego Comic-Con, the monster king of all conventions, is only one month away. I figured I'd better post an update and share what I know. I'll have a table in Artists' Alley again - they haven't officially released our table numbers yet, but a little bird tells me that I'm at CC-17. The game plan is this: I'll be spending the first hour of each day (excluding Preview Night) at the Super Real Graphics booth, which is #5331, and then I'll be at my Artists' Alley table the rest of the time. I'll be selling a couple prints and doing head sketches, and will also have copies of my latest sketchbook, and The White Album, which is making its debut at Comic-Con - very excited about that. "Wolves of Odin" will be available to buy at the Super Real Graphics booth. I'm also planning on doing a bunch of rockin' sexy original marker drawings to sell at the show. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on a lot of commissions over these next couple weeks so I can have a good two weeks to focus on Comic-Con preparation. Anyway, that's the scoop. I'll post more info as we get closer to the show.

"Wolves" article in Icelandic newspaper

I was interviewed awhile back by the wonderful folks at the Lögberg-Heimskringla, a weekly Icelandic newspaper. They just sent me a couple copies of the issue in which my article appears (thanks, David!) and it turned out great. I scanned it in, so click here to download a printable PDF if ya want.

Thanks again to the Lögberg! :)

Speaking of "Wolves"...
I'm sure I'll post more about this in a few weeks, but for those wondering - YES, "Wolves of Odin" will be at San Diego Comic-Con this year. The book itself will be available to purchase at the Super Real Graphics booth (#5331) throughout the show, and I will be at the SRG booth the first hour of each day, and after that you'll be able to find me at my table in Artists' Alley. More to come!

Sandtrooper Fan Days Card

Here's a recent sketch commission I mailed off, drawn on one of my extra Fan Days cards.

I'm still in adjustment mode. Getting used to my new digs, getting used to my new schedule (I'm no longer working vampire hours - I'm going to bed by midnight now! *gasp*). But I'm slowly getting back into the groove.

My site here has been quiet for toooooo loooonngg. I shall post more very soon.
