MN FallCon - October 10th & 11th

The Minnesota FallCon is right around the corner -- Oct. 10th & 11th! I'll be there all weekend doing b&w headshot sketches, selling prints (including some brand-spankin'-new, never-before-seen 11x17s), selling copies of "Wolves of Odin," and much more. If you're in the area, please stop out -- it's a fun show. And, like last year, it's in the Fairgrounds Grandstand location, so there's LOTS to see and do. :) I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Marla Bea Benefit Art Auction

This Padme marker drawing will be auctioned off as part of the Marla Bea Benefit fund-raiser to fight breast cancer. Please take a moment to check out the website and see what it's all about: www.marlabeabenefit.com. You can find a list of participating artists there, as well as auction info, and more. It's a great cause and I wish them all the best.

Star Wars Fan Days Portrait Pre-orders

Star Wars Fan Days is about a month away! From now until this Sunday, Sept. 27th, I'm taking pre-orders for full-color portrait sketches. $50 for one, or $80 for two (that's twenty dollars off the second one)! This offer is only valid for those who are attending Fan Days. Artwork will be done by the first day of the show and ready for pick-up at my artist table.

Here's an example of one of my portrait sketches - Clone Wars baddie Cad Bane. Sketches are on 8.5"x11" cardstock, drawn with pencil and brush pen, and then colored with Prismacolor markers. If you're interested, send the money via Paypal - my address is grantgoboom@gmail.com. Remember to include a note of which character you'd like drawn. If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me an email. :) Thanks!

PWTorch Divas: Michelle & Mickie

I'm drawing a bunch of WWE Divas for the PWTorch (based on existing promo shots - I'm trying for a more photorealistic art style with these wrestling illos). These are the first two: Michelle McCool & Mickie James. Many more divas to come over the next few weeks.

I've been away from email for a few days, so I'll be playing some catch-up this week. Busy with commissions and Clone Wars and everything else, as always -- honestly, thanks for being so patient with me, folks. :)

Pro Wrestling Torch

The Pro Wrestling Torch hired me to do some more wrestler illustrations -- here are four of 'em. The Miz, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, and John Morrison. Hopefully I got all those names right. If you want to see more wrestling art by me, go sign up with pwtorch.com!

FallCon & Fan Days Pre-Orders

I'm taking $100 pre-orders right now for full color marker drawings of any character. Generally they're hip/waist-up posed shots, drawn on 8.5x11 cardstock (examples: Plo Koon, Catwoman). I'm only taking a handful of these pre-orders, so send your order right away.

Here's what you need to do:
Send $100 via Paypal - my address is grantgoboom@gmail.com. Include a note saying (a) which character you'd like, and (b) which show you're going to pick it up from me at - MN FallCon or Star Wars Fan Days.

I likely won't be bringing my color markers with me to either show, plus my sketch lists fill up pretty quickly, so definitely take advantage of this offer if you're going to either show and want some full color Grant goodness! :)

Thanks --

DragonCon Rundown

If anyone's interested in seeing my wacky adventures at DragonCon, I uploaded a Flickr photo gallery and wrote up a quick report. It was a fun time. Sort of like a renaissance festival, summer camp, and comic convention all rolled into one. Craziness!!

I still have Battlestar art cards available. They're here on my desk, ready to mail off - they're snazzy!! If you want a set, shoot $10 plus shipping my way via Paypal - grantgoboom@gmail.com

Back to the grind for me. This week's all about mailing things off, answering emails, and (as always) trying to get some commissions done. Be back soon!

ForceCast 3rd Anniversary Megacast

The ForceCast celebrated three years of jedilicious Star Wars podcasting in their latest episode. They give away a bunch of prizes -- I volunteered an original "choose your favorite character" drawing as one of the prizes, so about an hour and a half into the episode they call me up and we chat briefly. It's a fun episode, definitely check it out. Click here or grab it off of iTunes. :)

Here's the link - Go check it out.

I'm being told that the book will likely be in stores next month (Amazon's September 1st release date was incorrect). So I'll keep you posted on that.

Off to Atlanta

(Yoda pic for Mike @ YodasHolonet.com)

Figured I'd better pop in with an update. It's been one heckuva crazy, busy, stressful, weird week. Tomorrow I leave for Atlanta (you may have heard of the sci-fi/fantasy mecca known as Dragon*Con) and I'll be gone for five days. A much-needed getaway. Those of you waiting on emails and packages and whatnot, thank you for your awesome patience - I shall tackle all that stuff next week when I get back. I'll be checking my email periodically in Atlanta, but probably won't reply to many letters 'til I get home.

Lots more Star Wars stuff coming up, plus I'll have updates on FallCon and Fan Days in a couple weeks... Oh, and my Draw Star Wars: The Clone Wars kids' activity book should be in stores any day now, so keep an eye out for that at your local bookstores.

I also wanted to mention that I did a Q&A for the Rebel Legion's latest newsletter. You can download the PDF and check that out right over here. (Thanks, Ed!)

I guess that's about all I have for ya. Everyone have a great weekend, and I'll be back next week with more art goodness and hopefully a few Dragon*Con photos.
