R.I.P. Al Williamson

CBR is reporting that legendary comic artist Al Williamson has passed away. He was probably best known for his EC stuff, Flash Gordon, etc., but for me, my first exposure to him was the comic adaptation of The Empire Strikes Back. It was one of the first comics I ever owned. To this day, every panel still feels familiar, since I'd stare at it for hours on end as a kid - plus it always reminded me of that opening day, when my dad and I stood in line for the movie (they were selling the comic at the theater). The fact that this year is the 30th anniversary of Empire makes it all the stranger. Anyway, I wanted to pay my respects - he was a huge part of the comic art world.
