Galaxy 5 Sketch Cards

Here's a sampling of my sketch cards for the Star Wars Galaxy 5 set (I did 200 sketch cards total). Everything you see below has been mailed to Topps to be randomly inserted into packs. I do have eight Return Cards to sell -- I'll post scans and info on those in the near future.

The Empire Strikes Back: 3D

Hard to believe it's been 30 years since Empire. I still remember seeing it in the theater as a kid, jumping in my seat when the wampa attacks, wishing I could use the Force to grab lightsabers, and thinking, "Nah, Darth Vader isn't really Luke's father. He's just lying because he's a bad guy."

Anyway... I'm sure I'll be doing cards for this set, but I have no idea how many yet. More info to come.

1st look at my art for Galaxy 5

The latest issue of Star Wars Insider features a sneak peek at the upcoming Galaxy 5 Topps trading cards, including a look at one of my pieces for the set -- The Clone Wars' own Ahsoka Tano in cold weather gear! I've always loved it when we get to see characters in new costumes, especially ones created for ice planets (c'mon, who didn't love the Hoth outfits?), so it was a blast creating this card. My not-so-secret hope is that one day they'll either use my design in an episode, or turn it into an action figure. I could die happy then. :)

Daughter of Pandora

A long overdue commission. Originally this was supposed to be a Twilight piece, but the guy contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I'd be able to do something based on Avatar instead. He wanted me to create a new female Na'vi character. So here it is! (James, thanks again so much for being insanely patient with me. I hope ya dig the art!)

MN Show Shuffle & Weekend Update

For those of you in Minnesota, you might want to take a look at midwestcomicbook.com. There are some big changes this year. MicroCon has been replaced by SpringCon, which will be the new 2-day event in the Grandstand, and FallCon will now be a smaller, one day show.



In other news...

I'm still behind on emails and some commissions I'd promised would be done by now -- ARGGHH, believe me, it drives ME more crazy than it drives YOU. This weekend I have to focus on finishing my sketch cards for Star Wars Galaxy. As soon as they're done, I'll be back to emails/commissions. Thank you, everyone!

2010 Sketchbook

Happy 2010

I hope everyone had a great, relaxing New Year's. I'm back at the drawing board. 1st priorities of 2010 are finishing up my Star Wars Galaxy sketch cards and finishing up 2009 commissions. I managed to get a lot of commissions done by end of December, but I still have a few left - I didn't meet my goal of being able to start the New Year with a 100% shiny new clean slate. :/ So yeah, I want to get them out the door ASAP. And I know I'm still behind on some emails - Will get to those soon too.

I also want to quickly mention my art sketchbook sale -- I slashed the prices on everything that hasn't sold yet. Please check 'em out and let me know if you want to buy one or two... or five.
